The common perception of Tarot cards as something only related to divinatory arts badly needs some revision because it has had some negative cultural consequences when it comes to games played with exotic playing cards. Not only was Tarot originally created for use in card games, people, mainly in Europe, still play card games with Tarot decks. The "quamat" on Tarot, like many other Tarot articles in the mainstream media is very culturally biased and contains a number of inaccuracies which are too numerous to detail here.
This article is not intended to debunk Tarot card reading nor to discourage anyone from practicing it, but to present another side of Tarot in the interests of cultural diversity and to dispel the common stereotypes often surrounding this misunderstood deck of cards.
