Often you find that taking the prescribed “two pills” doesn’t do the trick. Below are a few steps you can take to try to help alleviate the pain.

Headaches can come in many forms and are often caused by a variety of different chemical factors or surrounding elements. If you have a moment to rest there are a few home remedies that can do the trick in helping manage the pain.

If you have the luxury of being at home:

1. First, always drink a lot of water – a very common cause of headaches is dehydration and it always helps to rejuvenate your body!
2. Find a dark room and eliminate all extraneous noises from around you, from music to children do your best to steal a moment to yourself to rest. (Basements and walk-in closets are often great options, but any room where you can block out light and unplug the phone will do!)
3. Before you head into the take a clean washcloth and run it under cold water. (It’s helpful to fold it three times length ways so you can lay it across your face.)
4. Once you have gotten comfortable take the cold compress and lay it gently across your eyes allowing the cool cloth to relax your head. This is now your opportunity to rest, which is the cure for a headache.

If you’re out and about:
1. The only recommended “home remedy” is drinking a regular Coke. While most sugar drinks have negative effects for people with headaches, the caffeine in regular coke helps tighten the blood vessels and alleviate your headache.
