How to design your own individual or business website.

There are five important things that you need to know before starting your web site. As an experienced web designer and

SEO (search engine optimization ) specialist I know web designers can charge alot of money to set up a web site, so many

people in doing it themselves with free web design web tools or turning to sites like myspace.



The main reason for having your own website is for credibility. People must feel safe and secured to buy from your

website, not because they need your product but because you have earned their trust. Security and customer service plays a

vital role.

The five important things you should know are :

1. Easy Web Design

People like simplicity when they browse your website, the easier the navigation, the more money you will make. Help the

customers experience be a great one and not only will they will come back, they will bring their friends which means more

traffic for you.

Visualize how you want your home page to look like before you do anything. Ask yourself would you buy from a site that

looks like that? Would you recommend other people to it? If the answer is yes then you are ready. You cannot do everything

by yourself so look around for professional web designers that can bring your dream come true.



2. Domain Name

The name of your website is very important. Name it around your product or around the services that you provide. Do not be

conceded and name it after yourself or better yet .. your dog.. lol

People want to know about what you can provide them with, not who you are. It is advisable to register a domain for more

than 2 years, because, to the search engines, it looks like a reputable online business that will not go belly up or worse a spam

Choose your web hosting company wisely. Some of these companies find ways to lock your domains, or go out of business

and when you try to contact them so you can transfer your files or change your DNS settings, they are no where to be found.

My rule of thumb is if you are paying more than $5 per month for a basic website hosting, you are paying too much, you could

use that money for something else.



4. SEO : Search Engine Optimization

SEO or search engine optimization is the best way to get cheap web traffic. You have to know what you are doing to optimize

your site well for the Google Yahoo and MSN search engines. Each search engine's algorithm is different so your SERPs results

may vary. SEO can be time consuming but it is the best method and it pays for itself.



5. ROI : Return on Investment

Which one would you like more, work for 10 hours for a $1 OR work 1 Hour for $10... basically that is what ROI is about.

Work Less Earn More.

Your money returns should be more than the time of work you put in.
