Throw a Frisbee

Be an asset on the frisbee field (or parking lot)

  1. Stand with your legs shoulder-width or more apart. It’s easier if you stand to the side (as if you’re in profile) and focus on the spot your want the Frisbee to reach.
  2. Hold the Frisbee with your thumb gripping the top and the remaining four fingers cradling it securely. Bend your wrist so that the Frisbee is close to touching your stomach.
  3. Bring your Frisbee arm around so that the Frisbee almost touches the crook of your free arm. Keep the rest of your body relaxed and your knees slightly bent.
  4. Step forward with your right foot. The release of the Frisbee should come from a hard and quick flick of the wrist combined with a smooth release of the arm.
  5. Release the Frisbee and watch how it sails in the air. If it goes too high, bend your knees a little more and straighten your Frisbee arm until the Frisbee is lower than it was before. If it goes too low, bring the Frisbee up until it’s a little higher than the crook of your free arm. If the Frisbee wobbles in the air, focus on short, sharp flicks of the wrist.
  6. Start playing at a short distance: ask your pal to stand 10 feet away from you, and throw the Frisbee to him or her at least five times. As you get the hang of it, ask your pal to move a little farther away. By the time your pal is 20 feet away, you’ll have a better idea of what you’re doing and will be able to see what works and what doesn’t.
